ACORN marine trials underway

In order to validate the initial results obtained in laboratory, CTC has made available for the ACORN Project the Marine Corrosion Test Site “The Bocal” ( MCTS El Bocal). This facility is unique in Spain and has been developed through the collaboration between CTC and IEO (Spanish Oceanographic Institute). It has been designed for testing of materials, coatings and other components under real sea environmental conditions. This facility is useful to investigate the marine corrosion phenomena, in order to be able to provide effective solutions for the industry.

On March the 19th, a series of specimens of different materials that previously had been coated with the ACORN solutions were placed in the MCTS El Bocal. They will be kept there for nine months. After this time the behavior against corrosion and biofouling of the different coatings will be analyzed. These results will be used for their validation in order to foster its introduction into the market.
